• The pain goes away but always comes back

• Your pain returns when mileage or intensity increases

• Traditional physical therapy didn’t fully get you back to sport

• You want to fix the root cause — not just manage symptoms

If this sounds familiar, physical therapy can help identify the root cause and create a plan to help you return to training stronger than before.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What Will My First Session Be Like?

Your first visit is a one-on-one evaluation focused on understanding your injury, movement patterns, and training goals. We’ll review your history, perform a movement assessment, and identify the root cause of your symptoms.

Most sessions also include hands-on treatment, movement coaching, and a few targeted exercises to begin improving symptoms right away. You’ll leave with a clear plan for recovery and returning to the activities you enjoy.

If you’re a runner or endurance athlete, we’ll also discuss training load and how to safely return to running or sport.

Q: How Long Are Appointments?

Initial evaluations are approximately 60 minutes and are scheduled one-on-one with your physical therapist.

Follow-up visits are also 60 minutes, allowing time for movement assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise progression, and discussion of your training or activity goals.

This dedicated one-on-one time allows us to fully address your injury and help guide a safe return to running, training, or sport.

Q: Why Aren't You In-Network with Insurance Companies?

Tyler Gregory Physical Therapy is a cash-based practice, which means we are not in-network with insurance companies.

This allows us to provide longer, one-on-one sessions and focus on identifying and treating the true cause of your injury rather than being limited by insurance restrictions.

Many insurance-based clinics must see multiple patients at once and rely on assistants or aides. Our model allows your physical therapist to work directly with you for the entire session, providing a more personalized and effective experience.

You will always know the cost of care upfront — no surprise bills, copays, or hidden fees.

This approach is especially valuable for runners, triathletes, and active adults who want a clear plan to return to training safely.

Q: How Long Will it Take Me to Get Better?

Every injury and person is different, so the exact timeline varies. However, many patients begin noticing improvement in pain and function within the first 1–4 visits.

During your evaluation we will identify the root cause of your symptoms and create a clear plan for recovery, including treatment, exercise, and guidance for returning to your normal activities or training.

If you are a runner or endurance athlete, we will also discuss training load and develop a safe return-to-running or return-to-sport plan.

Q: Do I Need a Prescription or Referral From My Doctor?

No. Minnesota has direct access, which means you can see a physical therapist without a referral from your doctor.

In most cases, you can schedule an evaluation and begin treatment right away.

If you plan to seek reimbursement from insurance using a superbill, your insurance company may require a physician referral, but many patients choose to proceed without one.

Q: Do You Treat Patients Who Have Medicare?

Medicare has specific regulations regarding physical therapy services. If you have Medicare, please contact us before scheduling so we can discuss the best options for your care.
